KitaSoon is a simple event-planning app for the gatherings that make everyday life better: lunch with friends, weekend hikes, language exchanges, board game nights, music meetups, coffee chats, and community events.

Instead of letting important details disappear inside a busy group chat, KitaSoon gives every event a dedicated page. One link keeps the time, place, description, preparations, and RSVPs together, so everyone knows where to find the latest information.

Whether you’re inviting two people or a few dozen, KitaSoon helps you spend less time coordinating and more time enjoying the event.

Why I Built KitaSoon

I enjoy bringing people together, but I often found the available tools were either too much or not enough.

Large event platforms felt overly complicated for casual gatherings. Messaging apps were convenient at first, but details quickly became buried as the conversation grew. People would ask the same questions, plans would change, and it was difficult to know who was actually coming.

I built KitaSoon to create a simpler middle ground: a permanent, shareable home for each event, without the overhead of a large event-management platform.

How It Works

An organizer creates an event page with the essentials:

• What the event is
• When it starts and how long it lasts
• Where everyone should meet
• Why people might want to join
• What participants should bring or know

The organizer can then share the page using a single link.

Events can be private or public. Private events stay off the organizer’s public profile but can still be shared directly. Public events appear on the organizer’s profile and in the home feeds of people who follow them.

If the plans change, the organizer can update the original event page. Even cancelled events keep their page, preventing an old message or link from becoming the wrong source of information.

Simple RSVPs, With or Without an Account

People can respond as Going, Interested, or Not Going. Guests do not need to create an account; they can choose a nickname and RSVP from their browser.

Organizers can also:

• Set a total attendance limit
• Decide how many additional guests each participant may bring
• See who is going or interested
• Keep track of accompanying guests
• Manage attendance without maintaining a separate list

When a Going party cannot fit within the remaining capacity, KitaSoon automatically places the whole party on the waitlist. As space becomes available, eligible parties are promoted automatically.

More for Regular Organizers and Participants

Creating an account makes KitaSoon more useful across events and devices. Signed-in users can:

• Create and manage multiple events
• Maintain an organizer profile
• Follow other organizers
• See public events from followed organizers
• Keep their RSVPs connected to their account
• Browse upcoming and recent past events
• Filter their home feed by organizer, RSVP status, waitlist status, or cancellation
• Opt in to email reminders and important event updates

This makes KitaSoon useful for individuals as well as clubs, communities, and recurring meetup groups.

Designed to Be Shared

Each event page acts as the single source of truth before, during, and after an event.

Participants can share the event, add it to their calendar, return for the latest details, and see if it has been changed or cancelled. Organizers no longer need to repeat the same information across several conversations.

Accessible Wherever People Are

KitaSoon supports English and Japanese and presents event times appropriately across time zones.

It works in modern web browsers on phones, tablets, and desktop computers. It can also be installed as a Progressive Web App, providing an app-like experience without requiring a traditional app-store download. An offline fallback keeps the app understandable even when the connection is unavailable.

An Ongoing Personal Project

KitaSoon is a personal project that continues to evolve through real-world use and feedback.

Recent improvements have focused on performance, privacy, accessibility, mobile usability, event discovery, guest participation, and reliable notifications. I’m continuing to refine the experience for both organizers and attendees while keeping the product intentionally simple.

The goal has remained the same from the beginning:
