Looks like Apple maps already has 3D flyover maps of Tokyo.  Not exactly sure when this was added but it’s good to know the city I live in now has this feature. See the picture below of Minami-Senju. It looks like a real picture taken from the sky, except when in the app, you can actually move around the city in 3D.

The Google Maps app for iOS still does not have this feature, although it’s sister app Google Earth does. Haven’t compared yet which app has the best 3D renderings for Tokyo. Will do so one of these days.

You can see it by launching Apple Maps on your iOS device or even your Mac, and clicking on the flyover button while showing the satellite image.
